We are publishing statements made during the May 24, 2023 public hearing on the Town’s housing choices proposal.

As a longtime Chapel Hill resident who has worked for the university and in the nonprofit sector, but who hasn’t been able to afford homeownership here, I’m grateful for gentle density. For nearly a decade, I have rented a duplex surrounded by single family homes in Timberlyne, which has made it possible for me to remain in and contribute to a community I love. I encourage the Council to adopt the Housing Choice text amendment to make it possible for more people to live in and thrive in our town.

In the last municipal election cycle, we helped increase turnout by over 20 percent. We're all volunteers who care deeply about Chapel Hill and Carrboro, and we're working to make Chapel Hill and Carrboro more vibrant, accessible, fun, and sustainable.  Please consider a small donation to help us keep our digital lights on, host events, and hire students to do data deep-dives.
