Join NC WARN, Orange-Chatham Sierra Club & Orange-Chatham Interfaith Care for Creation on Wednesday, March 4 from 6-8pm at the Drakeford Library Complex for a short documentary screening and discussion. Light refreshments will be provided. RSVP is required.

The True Cost of Power: Duke Energy’s Climate Deception outlines how, for decades, Duke Energy leaders have misled the public about the dangers of its fossil fuel use while also positioning itself as a clean leader and harming our local communities. The documentary features voices from prominent scientists, journalists and community leaders, and will introduce an NC WARN campaign to finally get our state on the right side of the climate emergency.

This event is cohosted by Binkley Baptist Church and University Presbyterian Church.

I am excited to help bring this screening to Carrboro as my leadership role in the Orange-Chatham Sierra Club. We will also have a staffer from the Club’s Beyond Coal Program available after the screening to answers question.

Who is NCWARN?

NC WARN is a member-based nonprofit tackling the climate crisis – and other hazards posed by electricity generation – by watch-dogging Duke Energy practices and building people power for a swift North Carolina transition to clean, renewable and affordable power generation and increased energy efficiency.

In partnership with other groups, and using sound scientific research, NC WARN informs and involves the public in key decisions regarding their health and economic well-being. Dedicated to climate and environmental justice, NC WARN seeks to address the needs of all of the public by intentionally including those often excluded from participation because of racism, sexism, classism, and other forms of oppression.
