Some information from the Extraordinary Ventures press release:

The Extraordinary Thrift Store is the newest venture of Chapel Hill–based nonprofit Extraordinary Ventures and represents an expansion of its nearly 20-year mission to create meaningful employment opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism.

The store continues the legacy of a longtime community thrift space while bringing renewed energy, improved accessibility, and expanded inclusive employment opportunities to downtown Carrboro.

Extraordinary Ventures plans to continue partnerships with local organizations including the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service (IFC), Chapel Hill–Carrboro City Schools, and the Refugee Community Partnership, and is exploring ways to collaborate with CHCCS PTAs to support families and students across the community.

“We are incredibly excited that our community will have the opportunity to experience the benefits of inclusive employment firsthand,” said Lisa Kaylie, Executive Director of Extraordinary Ventures. “The Extraordinary Thrift Store is more than a place to shop—it’s a place where people can see what’s possible when everyone is given the chance to contribute, belong, and thrive.”
