A Childs bike gets some TLC outside the ReCYCLEry Bike Co-op container in MLK Park in Carrboro

You may remember last year, that the ReCYCLEry had lost their lease and needed a new home. The process took a while, but the ReCYCLEry is back up and operating, albeit in a limited fashion for now. Thanks to the Town of Carrboro, the ReCYCLEry was given some space adjacent to the town’s awesome pump track in MLK Jr Park. The town provided the space and the permission, the ReCYCLEry obtained a storage container.

It’s a start, and some things have changed on account of their new location.

  • They are currently operating limited hours and days
  • Currently, Saturdays from 10:00AM to 2:00PM – dependent on weather
  • The ReCYCLEry has merged with Triangle Free Bike Repair
  • Because of their agreement with the Townof Carrboro, they can no longer take donations of bicycles when nobody is there
    • If you go on Saturday when people are present, and the container is open, you can bring parts and bikes!
  • You can also arrange donations of bikes and parts by contacting [email protected] and making an arrangement wit the staff.
  • If that doesn’t work and you’d like to donate bicycles or parts, please contact the Durham Bike Co-op at [email protected] or visit their donations page (https://www.durhambikecoop.org/donate) for details.

The ReCYCLEry is a 501(c)3 non profit and can take donations of money and volunteers. If you were involved with them in the past as a helper, you can sign up for volunteer shifts here

We hope the ReCYCLEry will thrive and grow at their new location. If you or friends have bikes that need some love, or you want to learn how to work on bikes yourself (a lot of repairs, like flat tires are pretty easy) you can learn there. Share the news, Bring your bikes, and ride them and have fun!
