CASA Annual Fall Fundraiser - Thursday - September - 25 - 6:30PM - Location Raleigh Union Station

CASA is preparing for their annual fundraiser , Thursday, September 25 at the Raleigh Union Station.

CASA’s Fall Fundraiser is their largest event of the year. The event will include a cocktail hour, dinner, a program, a silent auction, and much more. There are still opportunities to donate items for the auction and wine for the wine pull. You can contact me or Cheyanne Murdock at [email protected]

CASA hopes to raise $200,000 this year. CASA has been providing housing options for decades and now have developed two ambitions projects close to home. I have been involved with CASA, both with my association with the Orange County Affordable Housing Coalition and through personal connections with the board.

CASA is a 501c(3) non-profit located in Raleigh, North Carolina focused on affordable housing in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Their mission is to provide access to stable, affordable housing for people who are homeless or at risk by developing and managing rental communities.

  • Founded in 1992 by local, Wake County community members
  • CASA completed it’s first new construction project in 2003
  • In 2008 CASA expanded to Orange and Durham Counties
  • In 2021 they held a Groundbreaking at Perry Place
  • Celebrated 30 years on 2022

While CASA is headquartered in Raleigh, they have been involved in two large projects in Chapel Hill

CASA completed Perry Place in 2023. Perry Place borders Chapel Hill and Carrboro and has 48 apartments (24 in Carrboro and 24 in Chapel Hill). I was a planning commissioner and reviewed this project when it was being planned. It required impressive cooperation between the towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro towns and planning departments. The development reserves some units for individuals with disabilities and is currently full.

CASA is one of the partners helping develop Homestead Gardens along with the Self Help Ventures Fund, Community Home Trust, and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County.
