It seems a little early, but maybe not. The official filing period in Orange County for local offices is not until July. July 7th to July 18th to be specific. However, many candidates have already announced they will run for re-election, as a new candidate, or to not run again.
We are just getting started thinking about how we will cover the local elections, and things are going to be fairly slow until July 18. However, we will share what we know as of today:
Carrboro

In Carrboro, Mayor Barbara Foushee, has announced she will seek a second term.

In Carrboro, Town Council member Cristóbal Palmer has announced he will seek a second term.

In Carrboro, Town Council member Danny Nowell has filed and will seek a second term.
Chapel Hill

In Chapel Hill, Mayor Jess Anderson has announced she will seek a second term.

First time candidate, Chris Suttle has announced he will challenge Anderson for Mayor.

On the town council, Paris Miller-Foushee has announced she will seek a second term.

First time Candidate Wes McMahon has announced he will run for one of 4 seats on the council

Second time candidate Erik Valera has filed to run for one of 4 seats on the council

Second time candidate Jon Mitchell has filed to run for one of 4 seats on the council

First time candidate Louie Rivers III has announced he will run for one of 4 seats on the council

On the town council, Camille Berry has announced she will seek a second term.

Meanwhile, Karen Stegman, who has served two terms on the Town Council, has announced she will not seek re-election.

Adam Searing has announced that, he too, will not seek re-election.
Hillsborough

Mayor Mark Bell has announced he will seek re election

Kathleen Ferguson, has announced she will run for a 4th term on the Hillsborough Town Board.

Mayor Pro Tem Robb English, has announced he will run for a 2nd term on the Hillsborough Town Board.
Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education

George Griffin has just announced he will seek re-election to the school board.

Vice Chair Riza Jenkins has just also announced she will seek re-election to the school board.

Michael Sharp has announced he will not be seeking re-election to the school board.
