The Town of Chapel Hill is working on a new Parks and Rec Master Plan. Engagement is happening now. Part of their engagement is an interactive map where residents can pick spots that need improvement, things you already like about a spot and also to make suggestions for something new or different.
Overview is here:

There is an interactive map you can can examine and add to here: https://engage.chapelhillnc.gov/parks-recreation-master-plan/places/tell-us-on-the-map-2

I recently made a suggestion and you can look at it here, to get an idea of how to add a suggestion or finding. https://engage.chapelhillnc.gov/parks-recreation-master-plan/places/tell-us-on-the-map-2?marker=12836

There will also be some in-person events. A few have already happened, but there are still some chances to engage in person with Parks and Rec people. They’ll be at several locations. Stop by, share your ideas, and enter to win a YETI cooler.

What does a Parks and Recreation Master Plan include?

“Parks and recreation master planning is a comprehensive process that provides guidance and policy direction to local government decision-makers. The planning process, which engages stakeholders and garners public input, provides a foundation for understanding and responding to a community’s parks and recreation needs. It involves strategically examining a community’s vision, existing services, facilities, and resources and assessing future needs concerning parks, recreation, and open space.”

The town is going through its budget process right now. Naturally, they will never be able to do all the things they want with the parks, but providing feedback will – at least – help the town to prioritize what the community is asking. for. I encourage you to participate and think especially about things that will not only benefit you, but the town residents and visitors in general. Check it out
