Using data from the Orange County Board of Elections, we have created a spreadsheet where you can examine:

  • The party registration history of each candidate running in this year’s municipal election
  • Whether or not candidates voted in past municipal elections

The spreadsheet contains information for every candidate running for mayor and town council in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. (Switch towns using the tab at the bottom of the document.) We previously created the same spreadsheet for school board candidates. (Grey indicates that they’ve dropped out since filing.)

Notably, several candidates running for office have not voted in recent municipal elections. Three changed their political party within the past four months.

In the last municipal election cycle, we helped increase turnout by over 20 percent.
