As you might recall, 19 people filed to run for school board last month. An astute reader contacted us earlier today after noticing that the North Carolina State Board of Elections candidates list is now down to 14 candidates for this race.

We are in the process of publishing interviews with the school board candidates. You can see all of them here. We have also published a look at their voter registration and record history.

Still in the race, as of August 25, 2023, are the following candidates:

  • Jane Gabin
  • Mariela Hernandez
  • Taylor Tally
  • Michelle Rissling
  • Barbara Fedders
  • Honoria Middough
  • Meredith Ballew
  • Rani Dasi
  • Vickie Feaster Fornville
  • Solomon Gibson III
  • Renee Peet
  • Ashton Powell
  • Deon Temne
  • Allison Willis

Dasi, Powell, and Temne are incumbents.
