Puppy Bowl Watch Pawty

Coming up this Sunday is the “Big Game”. Some Blog Bloggers are ardent football fans and, no doubt, will be watching the game intently. Others (like me) will be eating too much bean dip and waiting for the commercials. However, before any of this kicks off, there is an event happening in Hillsborough with a local connection to the other ‘big game’ on Sunday, the Puppy Bowl.

Meet the pups of the Puppy Bowl – Lewis & Charlie from Hope Animal Rescue, and join them for other activities and fun things. Eno River Brewing is donating 10% of sales from the event time to Hope Animal Rescue.

This is kid and dog friendly activity to do earlier in the day. The stars will be there and also several adoptable puppies will be there as well for cuddles.

Lewis and Charlie’s mom, Dolly, is also up for adoption. She is only 1 year old. Dolly was returned to Hope Animal Rescue as things sometimes don;t work out with their forever families. This is a normal situation in homing adoptable puppies and the fosters for Dolly will also be there as well to talk about opportunities for adoption. Scroll down for a picture of their dog mom.

We were contacted by Janice Smith, who along with Hope Animal Rescue shared this with the Blog Blog:

I am reaching out because this summer, my foster dog through Hope Animal Rescue, Dolly, gave birth to a litter of puppies at my home in Hillsborough – and then this fall, two of those puppies were selected for the Puppy Bowl, which will air on Animal Planet on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 8. One of the puppies, Lewis, is now my adopted dog. Lewis’ sister, Charlie, is also in the Puppy Bowl, although once she was old enough to leave my home, she was adopted by a family in New York.

Along with the awesome team at Hope Animal Rescue, I am organizing a dog-friendly Puppy Bowl watch party at Eno River Brewing in Hillsborough from 1 to 5 pm on Feb. 8. Ten percent of all sales during that time will go to Hope Animal Rescue. We’ll have raffle items, a dog-themed photos booth, games, and the opportunity to meet Lewis and Charlie!

While I had heard about the Puppy Bowl, I had never actually watched it. The wikipedia article has a good history of the event. What I have learned is the dogs that appear come from various shelters throughout the United States and the event spreads awareness of the millions of pets that need adoption.

This is where the local connection comes in. Two of the puppies selected come from Hope Animal Rescue, a volunteer organization found in 2013 by Cathy and Ashley Threadingham, a mother-daughter duo. Their Mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abandoned dogs in North Carolina that need help the most, while assisting members of our community in helping them to care for their dogs and keep them in their homes.

Lewis and Charlie’s mom, Dolly, is also up for adoption. She is only 1 year old. What a cutie. If you attend the event at Eno River, you will have a chance to talk to Dolly’s foster.
