ride-to-polls

By B.J. Talley, Adam Wolk, and Jared Gallaher

With North Carolina now a critical state in deciding the presidential election and so many additional state-wide offices up for grabs, voter turnout will be vital in helping progressive candidates win – especially in light of recent efforts to make voting more difficult in our state.

To help ensure every voter has access to cast their ballot, a group of Chapel Hill residents has partnered with national get-out-the-vote organization Rideshare to Vote to provide free round trip transport for voters who need it during the last week of early voting (October 28-31) and on Election Day (November 5.)

The service is available to all voters in the greater Chapel Hill area and all of Orange County who need transportation. All drivers are local volunteers and are trained to serve as voting assistants if requested by a rider. An ADA wheelchair-capable van is also available for any voter needing one.
