For decades, Carrboro residents who have wanted to battle each other wearing cardboard have been denied the privilege. But on December 13th from 1 – 2:30 at Carrboro Town Commons, those who want to “build suits of cardboard and fight!” will have their chance. (Weapons regulations – no tape! – and other details can be found here.)

The idea is the brainchild of Jessica Love, a student at Chapel Hill High School. We reached out to Love, who answered our questions promptly and fully.
How did you come up with this idea?
Well there is this box wars thing in Australia and when I found out it was in Australia I was like well darn and then I sat on it for a couple months and then I was like well. Why don’t we just have it here?
Tell us what your relationship is with Carrboro.
I’ve lived here for 5 years and I go to chapel Hill high School
Tell us what your relationship is with cardboard.
I’ve been fascinated with cardboard since I was very young. I built cardboard forts like any other kid did on my 7th birthday and there was giant spaceship that I built and I just love making things.
Have you put on other events like this? who should come?
This is my first event ever hosting and mostly anybody can come. I want a lot of people there.
