parents-voting

Orange Dems are hosting a kid-friendly Playground Meet up, Sunday morning at Southern Community Park.

If you have young children or other demanding responsibilities, finding time to support candidates can be tricky. Here are some suggestions.

Canvass with your kids

The most impactful outreach is canvassing (ie- knocking on doors). Please sign up for one or more shifts with the Orange County Democratic Party between now and Election Day on November 5. Talking to voters, one by one, across the state, is how we move the needle.

Recruit others to canvass

If you are not able to canvass, recruit a few folks who CAN. Maybe a neighbor, or a friend with older kids, or a retiree in your book club. Sending out an email with this link and an ask to sign up for a shift does work.

Vote on the first day of early voting

VOTE ON OCTOBER 17, or in the first few days of early voting. It banks your vote, and allows outreach efforts to re-deploy to other voters.

Know your ballot

It’s a long ballot – make sure you vote for every race, on BOTH sides of the ballot. Our voter guide will be out next week – we are recommending voting for Democrats in every single race, from President to Carrboro Town Council. Here’s a great guide for learning more about the statewide judicial candidates.

Make a list of 5 friends you can talk to about the election and why it’s important to you.

On the sidelines of the soccer field, waiting at the school bus stop, or invite another family to meet at a playground. Ask them what their voting plan is, and as noted above, remind them to vote early (preferably the first day) and vote the entire ballot.

Encourage out-of-state friends to phone bank for NC

Encourage friends and family who live in other states (that are not swing states like NC) to sign up to phone bank. They can make a difference by calling battleground states.
