Triangle Blog Blog has confirmed that Charles Lattuca is no longer the CEO/President of GoTriangle, the regional transit agency that serves the Research Triangle. His biography was removed from the GoTriangle website at some point in the last few weeks (before, after).

In a statement provided to us, Eric Curry, the Chief Communications Officer of GoTriangle Regional Transit Authority, said “I can confirm that Charles Lattuca has submitted his resignation as CEO/President of GoTriangle. The Board of Trustees will take up the matter during their regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, September 25.”

The GoTriangle board held a special meeting on September 9 that may be related to Lattuca’s departure, but minutes from the meeting only list a two-hour meeting in closed session for an employee performance evaluation. Agenda materials for the September 25 meeting are available on the agency’s website but make no direct mention of Lattuca’s departure, GoTriangle’s interim leadership, or the process for selecting his replacement.

Lattuca was appointed GoTriangle’s leader in April 2020, while GoTriangle was leading an effort to design a commuter-rail system linking Durham, Cary, Raleigh, and surrounding communities. Previously he worked for the State of Maryland and was involved in the development of the state’s Purple Line light rail system, which is still under construction. However, like GoTriangle’s prior Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit and Regional Rail projects, the commuter rail projects could not move forward past the design phase, and the project was shelved in August 2023.
