Happy Friday, y’all!
Here’s what we’re reading as we wait for the clock to strike 5PM (or 4:50…or noon…).
@ad_mastro is making us think about ways to preserve our sense of community while still making space for new neighbors.
I wrote about a great comment I received, on the inkling that a certain variety of NIMBYism might have nothing to do with housing per se, but rather a perception that we've lost a sense of community https://t.co/MwErS1YkDr

Meanwhile, down the road yonder in Asheville, progress is being made on the Woodfin Greenway & Blueway, an “ambitious $23.2 million effort includ[ing] the construction of five miles of greenway along the French Broad River and Beaverdam Creek. The project will also provide new river access sites and will fund development of the new Silver-Line Park as well as expansion of existing Riverside Park, in Woodfin. An exciting and much anticipated feature of the project will be the creation of the in-stream Wave feature for whitewater paddling and surfing enthusiasts”. We’re most excited about The Wave (see below), “a world-class river wave…created from a carefully designed and engineered ledge feature, made of natural rock and concrete, that is installed in the riverbed… sited adjacent to Riverside Park and the new greenway, in the Town of Woodfin.” WOW!
As usual, The Onion is making us lol-sob with their latest post. Somehow, they always manage to nail the social commentary.

And last but not least… did anyone else hear that noise coming from Durham last night? We hear Chapel Hill is next in line for a live downtown show. Will we see a similar response from residents of the Southern Part of Heaven?
