Over the past several years, many websites have popped up in Carrboro and Chapel Hill related to local development and transportation projects.

Using the network analysis methods described in this CJR piece, I discovered that some of them share IP addresses and various analytics identifiers. As noted in the CJR piece: “It is highly unusual for sites to share IP addresses and analytic identifiers if they are not connected.” The following sites are all on the same server with the same IP address.

EstesNeighbors.org

CHALT.org

BolinCreek.org

AffordableTransitforAll.org

BookerCreekAlliance.org

Moreover, all five sites share the same root domain ourtownchapelhill.org, which redirects to the CHALT speaker page. Additional websites that share this root domain include:

BolinForestClimateAction.org

SaveTheChelsea.Org

CentralWestCitizens.org

SaveOrangeSchools.org

StrongerOrangeSchools.org

CokerHillsWest.org

SaveBolinCreek.org

SaveBolinForest.org

An archival view of ourtownchapelhill shows it is a sister organization of CHALT.

In the last municipal election cycle, we helped increase turnout by over 20 percent. We're all volunteers who care deeply about Chapel Hill and Carrboro, and we're working to make Chapel Hill and Carrboro more vibrant, accessible, fun, and sustainable.  Please consider a small donation to help us keep our digital lights on, host events, and hire students to do data deep-dives.
